I find it strange that every item on the archive page is always grayed out when I visit it. It seems like unnecessary clutter, from a user perspective. I also experience this issue on the flyout, but to a lesser degree.

I would expect that list to simply be black text against white background, without any highlights -- except for unread items, which could have a pale color highlight.

This would be consistent with best practices for notifications on other top sites, as shown in these screenshots:
