"edit=autoconfirmed" not working for confirmed users on Wikidata
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

Author: pinkampersand.wikimedia

Description:
If I try to edit a semiprotected item on Wikidata with my alternate account, which is "confirmed" but not "autoconfirmed", I'm given the same interface as non-(auto)confirmed users, as you can see in [[commons:File:Wikidata-semiprotected-bug.png]]. The 'autoconfirmed' bit is still in the "confirmed" rights group according to ListGroupRights, and the item isn't currently fully protected.

As you can see here - http://www.wikidata.org/w/index.php?title=Q4115189&action=history&offset=20130507005901&limit=4 - the error appears to be an interface one, and not a bug in the protection tool itself. Using SetLabel/SetDescription/SetAlias, my "confirmed" alt account was able to edit a page I'd semi-protected, even though the "edit" links are still greyed out, as in the screenshot I linked to in the description.

This bug still exists, making the existence of the confirmed group rather pointless.

I agree this has been open for far too long, but I'd remind you that confirmed users can still use SetLabel, SetDescription, SetAliases, and SetSiteLink.

This could have been assigned more importance by product management. Anyway, let's take care of that bug now:
