Special:Translate does not show diffs on Wikidata
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

After going to the translation interface in Wikidata (Special:Translate), choosing an message group and clicking on an outdated translation, I noticed that the "Show difference" (MediaWiki:Tux-editor-outdated-warning-diff-link) link is missing.

Normally, like on translatewiki.org, this link is shown right after the "This translation may need to be updated" (MediaWiki:Tux-editor-outdated-warning) message. Even the qqq message for it says that "This message is followed by the link which is labeled tux-editor-outdated-warning-diff-link ("Show differences")". Obviously, the translation extension is not working as it should on Wikidata then.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Go to http://www.wikidata.org/w/index.php?title=Special:Translate&group=page-Wikidata%3AGlossary&filter=&action=translate&language=is
  2. Click on an message that is outdated.
  3. The "This translation may need to be updated." message will appear, but the link "Show difference" will not follow.

Since this bug is very counter-productive I have taken the liberty of marking it as major.

There is no bug, there are no diffs because there is no change in source since the translation was marked as in need of update.
See https://www.wikidata.org/w/index.php?title=Translations:Wikidata:Glossary/4/is&action=history
This was a workaround for bug 46562 because otherwise the diff was several pages long and made translation impossible.

Your comment is completely irrelevant.

Bug 46562 is about an diff that shows the text of the whole page. This bug is about that the diff and the link "Show differences" are not shown at all on outdated translations on a site-wide basis. This means that it also affects outdated translations that are newer than the edits from BetaBot. Wikidata:Glossary is only mentioned as an example.
