Tried with the above steps. I am not able to reproduce the issue at beta.wmflabs. I am getting expected result

Weird I do not see the position issue, but I do see the triangle to appear.

The observed behaviour is confirmed to be happening on Chrome.

On Firefox, the Language Settings pop-up shows in the middle of the page with a triangle pointing nowhere significant.

Screenshots for both are attached.

Verified. The Language Selection popup now displays in the same position as the 'Language Settings' popup i.e. middle of the page. The triangle has also been removed.

Confirmed on Chrome and Firefox.
