When I filed this bug, Simple English wasn't available at installation time.

To reproduce the bug, you'll need to download MediaWiki and go to the installer page. The first screen offers you a list of languages. Simple English isn't included. It should be.

It looks like Simple English was removed in I5212beabd5cc212b50ee98b5b53ec01b20ffd0c3.

Whilst Simple English is no longer present in this tarball, this bug has an invalid premise, so I'm marking this as resolved.
