Opening links from flyout in background tab sometimes also opens them in foreground
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

The interaction with links in the Echo flyout is somewhat erratic, presumably due to the interaction between JavaScript-fired events and the regular links.

Most notably, loading a link in a background tab doesn't always work consistently. In Chrome/Ubuntu, opening any link via middle-click loads it in a background tab as well as in the current foreground tab. This does not happen when using right-click. Ignatzmice is reporting the same behavior when CMD-clicking on a Mac:

I'm pretty sure this is the same issue as in bug 52319, which has a patch pending (or even two).
