Property:P407 "language" — if the whole property name is typed, value field disappears on property selection
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

Author: deletesoftware

Description:
Steps to reproduce:

  1. Open http://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q4304262
  2. Under "Statements", click "[add]".
  3. In the property name field, type "language" (not a part like "lang" or "langu", this is important: it works fine with that).
  4. Choose the "language" property (not "official language").

The value field is replaced with a throbber, the field does not appear.

Reproduced with

  • Firefox Nightly 2013-07-15-10-01-09-mozilla-central-firefox-25.0a1.en-US.linux-x86_64
  • Firefox 23.0 Beta
  • Firefox trunk 3.0b3pre from 2008 (though the partial property name WFM scenario isn't testable, because "official language" gets selected).
  • Debian Chromium 27.0.1453.110

Version: wmf-deployment
Severity: major

I see this with "URL" (P854) now. It started happening around the time I noticed that I am at "ru.wikidata.org" and not "www.wikidata.org". I just cannot get it to work.

"URL" works at "www.", but not at "en.".

Hmmmmm you should not be able to access any page on en.wikidata.org or similar. You should always be redirected to www.wikidata.org. This is working fine for me. Is there anything special about your setup that would lead to you not being redirected?

Apparently not.

Using Firefox Nightly 2013-09-11-03-02-58-mozilla-central-firefox-26.0a1.en-US.linux-x86_64 with a new profile and no extensions (I also use Firefox Beta), I

no redirect to "www" happened on further navigation.

Ok both Denny and I can reproduce this now. Will need to investigate further.

The issue with language was still there.
