Move page links to the top navigation bar
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

Screenshot of how the change would take place

The top navigation bar only includes one link ("Navigation") on the left side, which is a dropdown menu. Then the next row contains page links (e.g. Page, Edit, Move, etc)

I would like to suggest moving the page links into the nav bar, such that on the left, there would be the Navigation dropdown, and then the page links would be shown. The attached image shows how it would hypothetically look like.

You can add additional menu items using MediaWiki:Sidebar.

The sidebar links and the content navigation links are conceptually different, so I'd rather keep them apart.

They are conceptually different, agreed. However, right now the top navbar is wasting a lot of space on the page. All it is used for, is the one "Navigation" link on the left.

You can "right align" the page links to keep them separated, but I strongly recommend avoiding the wasted space in the navbar.

I am leaving it as WONTFIX.

Still needs polishing (e.g. i18n), but in principle fixed in I53a813953

Have a look at navhead.xml for how page tools can be included in the navbar.
