VisualEditor: Beta warning should say that you can switch to wikitext without unsaved changes being lost
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

Intention:
When you open VisualEditor for the first time, you get a message that says you can switch to wikitext, but that unsaved changes will be lost:

"You can keep using the wikitext editor by clicking the "Edit source" tab instead – unsaved changes will be lost."

This is not always true, since (currently for non-Firefox users) it is possible to switch to wikitext using the new menu item without losing any changes.

Reproducible: Always

Version: unspecified
Severity: enhancement

Any message of the interface can be changed locally in the MediaWiki namespace, so anybody can fix that. But the message only refers to the Edit source main tab, so it is always true that if you click that your changes will be lost.

(BTW the switch option is now working with any browser AFAIK, or at least it is with FF.)

(Actually, it's still broken for IPs.)

The switch option appears to be currently working for IPs as well.

I uploaded Gerrit change 133639 for this
