Suggest noinclude tag so pages aren't listed in search index
Closed, DeclinedPublic

Description

Author: creidieki+wikibugs

Description:
It would be very helpful to have a piece of wikimarkup that prevented a page
from being listed in search results. This could cut down on duplicate search
results. The tag could potentially be included in the unprintworthy-redirect
categories, such as {{R_from_alternate_capitalization}}; earlier today, I got
both [[Physical Fitness]] and [[Physical fitness]] in my search results.

To avoid abuse, we might want to limit this to being used for redirect pages,
and/or to create a new special page that lists all nonsearch page, and/or to
have a search option which reenables nosearch pages.

Rather leery about allowing people to interfere with page indexing on the
editorial level, and I'm not too sure that excluding redirects from search
engine results is hugely beneficial, to be honest.

I see more scope for abuse than appropriate use.
