Closed, InvalidPublic

Description

CIS-A2K program in collaboration with Christ University, Bangalore, will be conducting Wiki in UG classroom program. About 1600 students will be writing articles on Kannada, Hindi, Sanskrit, Tamil and Urdu Wikipedias as part of their assignments. This will be going on from Dec 1, 2013 till Feb 15, 2013. The IP numbers of the campus are -

27.251.198.2

Is there a link to the details for the event?

Sorry, but I don't understand what's the purpose of this bug. Do you want us to set a higher throttle for new account creations from those IP addresses, add them to autoblock whitelists, or what exactly?

Pavanaja U B: Can you please answer comment 2?

Dear Tomasz,

Definitely we need a higher throttle for new account creations. Apart from that we need unblock of these IPs for large scale editing.

The trouble is, account creation throttles are generally set for one-time events, not editing marathons that take 2 months.

That said, I'm not sure what you mean by "we need unblock of these IPs for large scale editing"; please clarify, preferably by giving some examples.

Thanks!

My usual template for such requests ask the reporter to provide:

  • The wiki name(s) (domain name(s), database name(s), whatever).
  • When the event starts, including timezone.
  • When the event ends, including timezone.
  • What the limit needs to be raised to (e.g. 75 accounts).
  • The IP(s).
  • A link to the details for the event.

It doesn't seem to be working too well this time, does it.

I already answered above as - "Definitely we need a higher throttle for new account creations. Apart from that we need unblock of these IPs for large scale editing."

I already answered above as - "Definitely we need a higher throttle for new
account creations. Apart from that we need unblock of these IPs for large
scale editing."

And I already said we generally raise account creation throttles for one-time events, and that I don't understand what the second part of your comment means.

Please clarify.

Nothing actionable here, closing for now.

Reporter: please reread the comments on this bug.

  1. what does "Apart from that we need unblock of these IPs for large scale editing" mean? (you should give details about how you are currently encountering blocks. what do you do to trigger them and what is the error/block message you encounter)
  1. if you need to raise a throttle for a particular event then we need some information about that event. (see comment 6)

If you can give an answer for either of those points feel free reopen.
