Rollback removal of sitelink doesn't check for existence
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

I was looking at https://www.wikidata.org/w/index.php?title=Special:RecentChanges&tagfilter=new+editor+removing+sitelink .

In this edit a link was removed: https://www.wikidata.org/w/index.php?title=Q161843&diff=prev&oldid=97260644

Probably because https://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Groep_fan_Auwerk was deleted over a month ago.

I was able to rollback the edit (https://www.wikidata.org/w/index.php?title=Q161843&diff=97263436&oldid=97260644) without getting a warning about the fact that the page didn't exist anymore.

To options:

  • This is a bug and some checking code isn't run on rollback -> Patch needed
  • This behavior is intentional -> Documentation at https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Wikidata:Rollback (and maybe other places) should be updated and this bug closed as WONTFIX

Version: unspecified
Severity: normal
