CirrusSearch: Run down scoring issue on nlwiki
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

I don't yet know the cause of this but:

If I searched for (example) places with the name "Kil" (nl-wiki) it suggests a lot of articles starting with Kil, but miss the essential ones. Just enter "Kil" in the search field doesn't give the places with the name "Kil" iteself but only suggestions for much longer artiecle names.

This looks to be caused by letting incoming links help sort the results. The funky thing is that lsearchd does this too. I believe it has some magic that gives an additional boost to whole titles that match.

I think this is better now. Top 6 results for Kil on nlwiki:

  • Kil
  • Kil (plaats in Zweden)
  • Kil (water)
  • Kil (gemeente in Zweden)
  • Kil (Noorwegen)
  • Station Kil

If there's something else you'd like to do feel free, otherwise I think WFM is fine here.
