A Left-to-right mark at the bottom of category name
Closed, DeclinedPublic

Description

When an user is copying a name of a subcategory from the content of a category page, an unvisible control character (probably a char code 8206, a Left-to-right mark) from the bottom of the category name is often unintentionally copied to the target page and blocks some scripts (e.g. Cat-a-lot is not able to remove such category tag). See https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Bots/Work_requests/Archive_9#Unvisible_controll_characters_in_category_tags for some discussions about this problem.

Could it be possible to display the content of the category without that unvisible control character?

Could it be possible to prevent saving pages with such unwanted control characters in category tags?

As https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/MediaWiki_talk:Gadget-Cat-a-lot.js/Archive_2#Any_idea_why_%2E%2E%2E already says: "This has to be fixed in Cat-A-Lot." As expressed in T57391, you need to report this to Cat-a-lot maintainers.
