Yeah, this is because TranslateWiki.Net removed tracking of VisualEditor's core messages (rather than the MW-specific ones) when the repo was split, and haven't yet added them back. Sorry about this!

These translations are still not being pushed through, is there anything else which might have caused this?

Could translations which were done whilst the messages were "untranslatable" somehow have not triggered an updated translation?

Opening again as this has not gotten fixed. See e.g. https://sv.wikipedia.org/wiki/Foo?veaction=edit&uselang=sv where "Insert" is still displayed as well as the other messages. To the list above can be added
