Moving to the Babel component.
Did a bit of digging and it seems like the edits are made automatically during a parser hook (ick!). So if a user makes an edit while using a mobile device which causes MF to think that the Babel edit was made via a mobile device.

Recommend re-testing after my patch for T184941: Babel AutoCreate creating empty categories (already on page preview) is merged, since that may fix the problem.
