At http://wikimedia.org.uk, the link is not displayed if you are in desktop mode. If you are in mobile view, the "desktop view" footer link is displayed correctly. The root cause seems to be a bad css instruction because the link is there in the HTML page.

Nothing wrong our end. The site seems to have disabled it on purpose for some reason (not sure why - it would make much more sense to simply uninstall the extension :))

Yes. After hours of hacking on #53018, I had simply forgotten to check the most obvious reason why this wasn't display. Thank you @Jon for his advise and sorry for this idiotic bug report.
