Native Mac OS special character inserter fails to get content into DM, just CE, in Safari
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

Intention:
Add a special character from the built-in Mac OS character inserter.

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Using Safari, open a page in VisualEditor.
  1. In Safari's menu bar, choose Edit > Special Characters...
  1. Double-click on special characters to add them.

Actual Results:
The special characters display on the screen, but are not present when you try to save the text. Characters that were typed from the keyboard are saved. No characters (even if they are 'normal' ones) are saved if they were added with the character inserter.

Reproducible: Always

It works in Firefox 26. It does not work in Safari 6. I haven't tested Chrome.

Version: unspecified
Severity: normal

The red oval on the far left shows the three characters (one normal 'r' and two fancier ones) added with the OS's special character inserter. These should appear in the Review Changes diff, but don't
