Providing more information in a search query (such as word fragments) results in less accurate results

Description

If I search for "Barack" on the English Wikipedia, [[Barack Obama]] is the first result [1].

If I search for "Barack Ob" on the English Wikipedia, all of the search results are totally irrelevant [2]. More accurately, there are a few relevant search results in the list that are about Barack Obama, but the only reason they're actually included is because they so happen to have the string "OB" in them as an abbreviation for something else. That's a fluke more than anything else.
