VisualEditor: Pawn ♙ appears after deleting the text preceding and following a link by "undo" action

pawn before the link

Steps to reproduce:

1.Open a page with VE
2.Create a link
3.Type something just before the link
4.Type something just after the link
4.Click on "Undo" several times

Observed Result:

A pawn appears right before and after the link

I might be reopening the wrong bug, but this doesn't seem to be fixed.

  1. VEdit any article on the French Wikipedia.
  2. Type some words exactly before a wikilinked single word. (Based on my tests, it doesn't really matter if we add one word or several ones.)
  3. Undo your edit with the related keyboard shortcut or the Undo button: a pawn will appear. Undo again, the pawn might disappear, undo one more time, it appears again, etc.

I was able to reproduce with Vector and Safari.

I just reproduced this on Chrome in Betalabs

I'm not taking this bug either, but I can reproduce it -if I make the link in the block slug-. Which I wasn't doing when I tested this before.

Jdforrester-WMF claimed this task.
