Restore count of rows on watchlist
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

gerrit 103239 removes the count of how many rows are actually shown on Special:Watchlist

A user on de.wp wrotes, that it is now impossible to see, if the watchlist for the user's time frame and limit is cut of at the limit or if all changes are within the limit. This can be necessary to find the start point where unseen changes are, when for example missed looking at the watchlist some days.

Isn't that possible (and easier!) with the last-visited markers? When removing this I was under the impression that it is entirely useless.

last-visited markers can only help, when all changes within the limit are shown and you can find the oldest non-bold entry to start there, but when you have more than 1000 changes and there is no non-bold entry you did not know, if a change of the time frame will show the rest or not. When looking at the number of rows you can see if there is same place within the limit to show a bigger time frame.

Thank you. Let's backport to 1.23 too, shall we? It makes no sense to have just one version without this functionality, and probably complicates the i18n updates.
