Migrate Language instances to eqiad
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

We at Language Engineering team are using almost all instances at pmtpa Labs. Please assist us in migration from pmtpa to eqiad.

I can be available in process for migration.

The following instances need to migrate:

language-testlink
cxserver
language-browsertests
language-stage1
language-mleb
language-replag-wiki
language-replag-slave
language-replag-master

In short, all instances are in use and required. Let me know what other information is needed.

Puppet is disabled on the language-browsertests instance, which means I can not migrate it. Re-enabling may cause unwanted side-effects -- do you know why it's disabled?

No idea :( We created instance as other instances were created. What can be possible downtime or side effects?

Well... someone on your team had to have explicitly disabled puppet on that box. They probably did it for a reason -- to alter system files that are generally maintained by puppet. When we turn puppet back on, these files may be overwritten.

I can re-enable and let the chips fall... the instance cannot be migrated without puppet. Please let me know how you'd like to proceed.

OK, I'm starting this migration now... will update when complete.

I've migrated all of these instances now. Please verify that things are working -- if it all looks good then close this bug and update the progress page accordingly.

Thanks!

Andrew, I'm getting '502 Bad Gateway' in all instances at moment. Do I need to change anything at Wikitech?

https://wikitech.wikimedia.org/wiki/Labs_Eqiad_Migration_Progress#Pending_Migration shows Pending for Language too.

Nevermind. After updating webproxies, things are into shape. Can you look at why, language-mleb (http://mlebtesting.wmflabs.org/) is still not working?

language-mleb is running something called 'aolserver' which is occupying port 80 and preventing apache from coming up. I don't know if that's right or wrong, but in either case it's above my pay grade -- I've never heard of aolserver at all :(

I fixed 'aolserver' issue on language-mleb today.

OK, can this bug be closed, or do you still need assistance from me?

No. Thanks a lot, Andrew! Closing.

Can I move the language project into the 'fully migrated' column?
