Description

The Lithuanian test project on beta.wikiversity.org requires some namespace aliases.

'Aptarimas' -> ns1
'Naudotojas' -> ns2
'Naudotojo aptarimas' -> ns3
'Vikiversitetas' -> ns4
'Vikiversiteto aptarimas' -> ns5
'Vaizdas' -> ns6
'Vaizdo aptarimas' -> ns7
'MediaWiki aptarimas' -> ns9
'Šablonas' -> ns10
'Šablono aptarimas' -> ns11
'Pagalba' -> ns12
'Pagalbos aptarimas' -> ns13
'Kategorija' -> ns14
'Kategorijos aptarimas' -> ns15

This is needed in order to be able to use the local namespace names already in the beta state before a wiki with an own subdomain is created.

There should be community consensus for a change like this. If there has been a discussion, please link to it.

I don't think this has been done before on betawikiversity, so it is not clear why it now needs to be done for one language out of many on this project. Notably, Incubator does not do this.

This bug is a result of me talking to the main developer of the Incubator extension, SPQRobin. The change requested has the advantage that in the source code of the Lithuanian BetaWV content project the localised namespace aliases could be used already and a lot of work and time changing these would be saved after a possible import to lt.wikiversity.org. As far as I have heard, SPQRobin is also thinking about fixing the namespace issues for Incubator in the future and this change to BetaWV could be seen as a temporary solution to make editing there more comfortable. Of course I can consult the other user editing this test project for his opinion though I doubt he would disagree (especially since he regularly accidentally uses the localised namespace names).

I would be happier if I saw that the entire betawikiversity community could show a consensus for this change, as it is a project-wide decision after all.

But from what I can tell, betawikiversity does not have much of an "entire community", so perhaps I am missing the point.

I opened a new community discussion and linked to it from the multilingual village pump (Wikiversity:Babel) and no objections to the change were raised. I will change the "URL" to a permanent link after this bug has been marked as RESOLVED. Thanks.
