Note: a close look at the screencast of the logout instance shows the logout happens instantly upon clicking Edit source for logged-in user.

In attempting to recreate the problem I encountered Bug 65710.

Since the beta warning is controlled by a cookie, these issues may be related.

I should have said:

Note: a close look at the screencast of the logout instance shows the logout happens instantly upon clicking Edit source for logged-in user while the user is in VisualEditor.

I reproduced this issue, after clicking on Switch to edit source and then again coming back to VE,I tried to save the page from VE.
It showed an error: there might be an edit conflict in the save dialog and then I got logged out

  • Bug 62583 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. ***

Given this is a duplicate of non-VE bugs, it's clearly a MediaWiki issue that the Editing team haven't been able to track down. :-( Moving.

Cmcmahon set Security to None.

Handled this by better managing test users. There was a rogue test logging out.
