Add link [[Special:PageTranslationDeletePage]] to [[Special:SpecialPages]] when dual rights exist
Closed, InvalidPublic

Description

When a person is both an administrator and a translation administrator, they are granted the right to delete a series of translated pages. The page to undertake that task is [[Special:PageTranslationDeletePage]] and it would ideally be listed on [[Special:SpecialPages]] for those with the dual rights.

I would suggest that it be listed in the ==Page tools== section which deals with deletions, and some aspects of page translation. If a label other than the existing label is required, then option could be "Mass translation delete".

I don't see the purpose of listing this page: it would be inconsistent with the other special pages e.g. Special:MovePage; it only shows an error when accessed without parameters.

Because

  • you can move a page without access to that special page
  • it is not listed anywhere, so when someone has the rights, they should be able to access that page through SpecialPages
  • having to remember that the page exists and the name and format of the page name is nonsensical
  • it is the one page that makes multiple page deletions possible, such that equates to nuke, which is similarly for groups of pages.

Or are you saying that it is not like nuke? And that is phantom special page and we have some other mystery operating here? If that is the case ... UGH! No wonder it isn't documented cleanly, and so anyone can understand what is going on.

I'm sad that you're so frustrated by this page, but I have no idea why you are.

Really? How?

  • it is not listed anywhere, so when someone has the rights, they should be

able to access that page through SpecialPages

Same is true of Special:MovePage.

  • having to remember that the page exists and the name and format of the

page name is nonsensical

You don't have to remember it. There is a "delete" button, as documented in https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Help:Extension:Translate/Page_translation_administration .

  • it is the one page that makes multiple page deletions possible, such that

equates to nuke, which is similarly for groups of pages.

Or are you saying that it is not like nuke?

It's certainly not like Nuke, because this special page is accessible from the standard action=delete and its tab, unlike Nuke.

Layers layers layers, so many layers to apply before you get to see it, and to know that delete is different delete. What is confusing is when you get to the action page it lists it with a pre-filled editable field, which is different behaviour than expected.

We could do some more with the help pages to make things a little more evident. Diagrams would be useful, and splitting out the joint admin right components would enable self-evidence.
