This is already available via the standard shortcut (Ctrl/Cmd+Shift+V), and it's listed in the dialog of all keyboard shortcuts.
Is this asking for a button to do this as well?

Not sure if it needs a button or an entry under "Insert", but its always nice to have such a hidden feature somewhere exposed?

If you click on the help icon, then "keyboard shortcuts" ("Tastaturkürzel" in German), it is listed there along with the other standard shortcut commands. Unfortunately browsers will not let us provide cut/copy/paste buttons, so although we could add a "paste unformatted" button it would feel very odd…

ok my bad, thanks for the follow-up, closing
If you couldn't find it then probably others couldn't either; we should keep this open until we come up with a good way to expose this.
Where do you think this would make sense? Within the Insert menu? One option could be to add it in the right click context menu, but I am sure hijacking that will come with problems of its own.
Has this come up as a problem again?
There was some confusion about a similar problem (see T174898), but this specific problem hasn't come up. I'm changing priority to reflect the state of things here.
