(04:53:11 PM) Krenair: cscott, is there an ocg bug for formulae going out of the column?
(04:55:03 PM) cscott: Krenair: no, i don't think so. that's a "hard problem" in general.
(04:55:20 PM) Krenair: yeah, I can imagine
(04:56:07 PM) cscott: i think basically i want to parse the latex output and look for the 'too wide' warnings that latex emits when things like that happen, then try to adjust things and run latex in a second pass.
(04:56:58 PM) cscott: Krenair: where "adjust things" might mean "switch to single column mode", at least at first.
(04:57:32 PM) Krenair: won't it just run off the page then?
(04:58:35 PM) cscott: Krenair: yeah, i can't *always* fix it. but there are pages like https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lists_of_integrals that are ok in single column mode

This has come up again and I'm wondering if we can make it easy for users to choose the same options for individual downloads as they can with full books (e.g. column count), which would make it easy for users to deal with this themselves in most cases (where the formula isn't too big for the page size).

Aklapper set Security to None.

What if for those blocks, we specify

-webkit-column-span: all; /* Chrome, Safari, Opera */
column-span: all;

it might be a bit cluttery on pages with lot's of formulas, but could be enough of an improvement to make it workable ?

As already announced in Tech News, OfflineContentGenerator (OCG) will not be used anymore after October 1st, 2017 on Wikimedia sites. OCG will be replaced by Electron. You can read more on mediawiki.org.

Cannot reproduce anymore with https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Equation_of_state#The_BWR_equation_of_state and the current PDF renderer based on Proton.

However, with even longer equations, no Math formula is included at all in the resulting PDF created by Proton and Electron-PDFs (testcase: https://www.mediawiki.org/w/index.php?title=User:AKlapper_(WMF)/Sandbox&oldid=4439012#T75392 ).
