Reference list constrained to a short height and scrolling within
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

On both ios and desktop on stable the reference section of the article is constrained to a very short height and you can scroll through them. It shows 2 or 3 references at a time. It saves a lot of space but is hard to navigate. Is this on purpose?

Yes, that's a feature, not a bug :P

Mobile has to handle with different devices, some of them has very limited space on a screen. So, references will be displayed in a drawer, if you click on it in the text. Normally there is no need to scroll through the whole list of references to go to a section after the list (e.g. read in another language or categories :)).

I don't mean the panel that comes up when you click on the citation in the text, I mean the actual reference list section. The list is already collapsed, putting it in another drawer that you have to scroll through makes it very hard to navigate.

Reference list section

There's also no indication that there are more than 2 references here.

Kaity which page is this? Please can you add the URL?

Sure, the screenshot is from https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Babylonia
The same issue is on any article with a reference list section I think.

Also on mobile on desktop or tablet there is a huge amount of empty white space, I'm assuming where the reference list used to be before it was collapsed?

This was fixed already by this patch [1] but has not made it out to English Wikipedia.
