Make it easy to find log actions across a page move
Open, LowPublic

Description

When a page is renamed, the history page remains continuous. The edits are all still there.

For log actions, it is only filtered by current title which makes it difficult for users to figure out what happened to a page, for example to know of it was protected or deleted once before.

This task tracks making that easy to find for users. Either by making it continuous (like for edit history), or by some other means to be able to discover them naturally through the interface.

Original task description

Following problem:

[[de:User:Raymond/Page1]] was protected and than moved to [[de:User:Raymond/Page2]].

Page2 is furthermore protected, but neither the protection nor the moving are
shown in the log for page2 (well in history of page2)

Log page1:
http://de.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Spezial%3ALogbuch&type=&user=&page=Benutzer%3ARaymond%2FPage1&uselang=en
Log page2:
http://de.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Spezial%3ALogbuch&type=&user=&page=Benutzer%3ARaymond%2FPage2&uselang=en

This is a little bit messing :-(

Proposal: Chain the logs of pages if moved and show them all.

[[Poisson hidden markov model]] was deleted, then restored, then moved to [[Poisson hidden Markov model]]. The deletion and restoration appear in the logs for what is now a redirect page, but not in the logs for the article under its present title.

I was about to open a request for this matter. As an example, there is a page on pt.wikipedia that was moved six times as of today [1]. However, if I go to the page logs, it is like page was never moved [2]. It is difficult to check for every previous title to confirm it was moved. When history page is full of edits, it also doesn't help. It would be nice to have it fixed. Thanks.

Also, page history can be deleted, for example if you delete the page after doing the move and then someone recreates it, or if you selectively delete the revisions stating the move.

Moving a proteted page (now) leaves a entry in the log for the new page to see where the protection came from

For the search with the new page name exists T66184

So this task can be merged into T66184, isn’t it?
